Pints and popcorn by special permission

The licensing specialist firm, Poppleston Allen, has provided Pub is The Hub with up-to-date guidance on running cinema events in pubs.

The advice on running any kind of broadcast or recorded film can be complicated and yet can be a valuable lifeline for pubs in remote or inaccessible communities.

Whether it’s a morning talk on bird watching, the live broadcast of a sporting event or Royal Wedding, an afternoon showing of a classic film for a luncheon club or a full-blown night at your pub cinema there is a range of permissions to consider including the premises licence, copyright licence, PRs and PPL.

Lisa Sharkey, a partner at the licensing firm has been a supporter of community-based initiatives like cinema nights and has reviewed and updated the guidance in our handy, downloadable document HERE.
