An innovative new scheme – and a first for Pub is The Hub – is due to open in January 2013 at the Prince of Wales Inn, Ton Kenfig, Bridgend where the pub was awarded a grant for a local heritage project.
Pub licensee, Gareth Maund wanted to capture the sense of place and folklore surrounding this 16th Century inn and has developed a film featuring the Welsh actor, Owen Teale, describing the history of the building which has been, over 400 years, a school, Town Hall, Magistrates Court and morgue!
The pub also serves and supports local produce, as well as a fine pint of draught ale and takes a pride in its role in the community.
There will be a kiosk inside the pub that will feature six films; a timeline of the pub’s history and links to local heritage websites as well as information about local services. Upstairs, there will be trigger points on pictures activated by a phone or ipad with more detailed information.
The heritage project will be open to the public from 16 January 2013.
