Greene King donates to the Community Services Fund

Greene King, the UK’s leading pub retailer and brewer, has increased its community investment by providing an initial donation of £15,000 in financial support to Pub is The Hub for the recently launched Community Services Fund.

Pub is The Hub’s Community Services Fund was established in April 2013 to help UK pubs to diversify into new services provision for their own communities. In launching the fund, Pub is The Hub recognised that good licensees today can work with the public, private and voluntary sector to improve the local economy.

Greene King’s chief executive, Rooney Anand said: “We are extending our community support by providing some central funding to Pub is The Hub, which we know is much-needed to help pubs provide viable local services at the heart of their communities, right across the country. These services can include post offices, shops and other much-needed provisions.”

John Longden, chief executive of Pub is the Hub said: “We have been pleased with the initial response to the launch of our Community Services Fund to help licensees to diversify.  We are thrilled to have the support and encouragement from Rooney Anand and the Greene King Board. Their commitment to Pub is The Hub is testament to our simple philosophy of encouraging great licensees to provide additional services in their pub as the heart of its community.”
