Are you a pub business that wants to diversify?

Posted on:

Pub is The Hub will be helping and advising more pubs to diversify their local services and activities after receiving access to Government funding.

Grants of up to £6,000 may be available to pubs in rural, remote or deprived areas, who meet the criteria, and who want to offer additional services and/or activities.

What are the potential benefits that these additional services and activities can provide for your pub?

Publicans who have diversified their pubs’ services/activities report a variety of significant positive impacts to their pub including:

A Positive perception of the pub

A new community service/activity helps generate, through positive PR and word of mouth, a great perception of the pub, which helps attract the growing number of people in the local area who are keen to support businesses that help to support others. Consumers are increasingly attracted to businesses that have a social conscience, encouraging a feeling of local wellbeing and that local people matter.

Free impactful PR

Pub is The Hub’s media experts also help support publicans with focussed PR around the pub’s new service/activity which helps raise your pubs’ profile in local/regional and trade press.

Helps attract and retain team members

Adding new services/activities to the pub can add an exciting new dimension for the publican and team members’ work, which can help attract, motivate and retain staff.

Business with a purpose

Adding new services and social value activities which help to support local people adds a positive purpose beyond just profit to the business, which is rewarding for both publicans and their team members.

Wider community connections

Introducing new services/activities and support for local suppliers can broaden your contacts and relationships with people and organisations in your local area, which will be helpful to your business and yourself personally.  Many new projects also support local traders and suppliers to the pub business.

Opens up new opportunities

Many publicans report how introducing a new service/activity has had a halo effect in getting their pub involved in exciting new projects and events with the local community area.
