Appeal to Flintshire licensees to attend workshop

Posted on:

Pub is The Hub is currently working with Cadwyn Clywd in supporting local pubs diversify their main service to help create vibrant community hubs.

With the help of Pub is The Hub licensees could access some funding to help them offer their community a valuable service from within their pub. Examples include post offices, farm shops, cinemas, libraries, Wi-Fi, luncheon clubs, school dinners and delicatessens.

Pub operators and owners in Flintshire are being invited to attend a meeting on Thursday, 27th March 2014 at the Crown Inn, Lixwm, Holywell, Clwyd, CH8 8NQfrom 10.30am to 12.30pm.

The Blue Bell at Halkyn has just opened a new Post Office and licensee Steve Marquis and his staff have been overwhelmed with customers’ response. He said: “I’ve been at the Blue Bell for eleven years now and keep thinking of new initiatives to offer our customers from near and far. The Post Office is a great addition to the pub and we’ve already had really good feedback from customers, Last Sunday, we were able to help a customer wanting to post a very important parcel before he left on holiday. As we’re open on Saturday and Sunday, we were able to help out.”

“Last year we added CAMRA’s Community Pub of the Year to the host of awards we’ve won over the years and twice a week we offer guided walks and have people travelling great distances to take part. I think we’re a real community hub and having the Post Office here can only strengthen that.”

Advisor for Pub is The Hub in Wales, Malcolm Harrison said: “If you have time, please also join us following the meeting for a buffet lunch and a chat.”
