14-Aug-2006 The Publican - Praise for Hubs role

The Department for Rural Affairs (Defra) has congratulated pubs for improving rural life.

The Defra report cites the Pub is the Hub scheme as being a factor in improving access to a range of facilities for villages.

Since Pub the Hub started five years ago, over 300 pubs nationwide have been transformed to include a range of facilities including gyms, post offices, bakeries, church services and pharmacy collection points.
