Pub is the Hub was set up in 2001, through the Rural Action Programme of Business in the Community, by The Prince of Wales. It encourages breweries, pub owners, licensees and local communities to work together to help retain and enhance rural pubs.

The pub has traditionally provided a centre/heart to the hamlet or village and the pub is the hub scheme aims to improve the community value of the pub by finding additional uses for it, thereby improving its viability.
