Morning Advertiser - Prince Charles: pub closures damage rural life

Prince Charles has sent out a stern warning that the closure of village pubs will severely damage rural life.

The Prince said if people continue to shun rural pubs and traditional crafts, it will be akin to “pulling threads from the delicate tapestry” of rural life.

He made the warning at a tourism conference in Lode Cambridgeshire and declared that visitors to the countryside should be asked to make a voluntary contribution to support its farmers and local businesses.

He added: “All these things attract and a maintain tourism in an age of otherwise stultifying monoculturalism.”
