Denbighshire Free Press - Raven re-opens on Saturday
A village pub that has been closed for several months will be re-opened this Saturday, August 29 - by the community
The Raven Inn, Llanarmon-yn-Ial will be opened as the Raven Community Pub.
The pub was put up for auction in July, but despite interest from the public it failed to reach it’s reserve price at auction.
Threatened with long term closure a television company - Twofour approached villagers with a proposal to support the community to reopen the pub.
Villagers voted in favour of the plans which include a television documentary to be aired in the autumn.
The Raven Inn in Llanarmon-yn-Ial has been the hub of the community for centuries.
The offer from the TV company enabled the community to come together with the support of a mentor to re-open the pub.
The pub will now be run as a community venture, staffed and run initially by volunteers from the village.
A company limited by guarantee has been set up, and a committee put in place to oversee and coordinate activity.
“With so many rural pubs closing, Twofour are delighted to help save some of them," said a spokesman from Twofour. "We wish The Raven every success."
