Country & Border Life - Two pints of lager and a packet of seeds
The Eagles Hotel in the town square in Corwen, Denbighshire is converting its back garden into community allotments as part of the "Pub is the Hub" scheme back by Prince Charles
"The support from the community has been amazing", says landlady Lesley Hughes. "We want to involve everyone and for the more experienced gardeners and growers to pass on their expertise and enthusiasm to the youngsters".
Lesley plans to start serving the produce grown in the allotments in the pub and she is keen to let the children get involved.
"so much food these days is processed that children don't know where it comes from," she says. "We want to show them how it gets from seed to plate; we'll be growing all sorts of vegetables and fruit, and we'll even have a polytunnel".
