Best of British - Pint Sized Post Office

When Lynn Walsh sets off to her job in the village post office she just walks a few yards and steps into her old garage.

In a space that used to be full of spiders, cobwebs and junk, locals and visitors queue for stamps, postcards and pensions.

Lynn and husband Victor run the 14th century Mussel Inn near Plymouth. When their local post office closed they suggested converting the pub's disused garage. One big refit and several tins of emulsion later, the idea became reality, with support from the local community and organisations such as Pub is the Hub. Lynne, who moved here from the Midlands for "a calmer way of life", now juggles her roles of daytime postmistress and evening 'mine host'.
